Introduction to Beekeeping 

Presented by Tim Martin from Tower Hill Beekeeping.

The 2-hour session will provide a great introduction for people considering keeping bees, have a general interest in bees or may have already started on their beekeeping adventure. It will cover the basics of the honey bee including common pest and disease, it’s general functionality as a hive and the knowledge and legal requirements of having a hive. It will also cover the start-up requirements including the different hive types, harvesting methods & equipment, tools & protective wear.

It will be given in a flexible-approach, suitable for all ages & have some equipment for demonstration. Note there will be no hands-on experience with live bees or active hives in this session.
